United Way Helps Citizens Achieve Self-Sufficiency
As many as one-third of working Americans do not earn enough money to meet their basic needs. Wages have not kept pace with the rising cost of housing, healthcare, and education and currently, 40 million Americans are working in low-paying jobs without basic health and retirement benefits. For families walking a financial tightrope, unable to save for college, a home, or retirement, United Way is here to help.
We know that financially stable people are more likely to have access to quality healthcare, provide a good education for their children, and contribute to their local economies. Our community focuses on building knowledge and support to better manage income and savings. To improve financial stability in our community, United Way collaborates with local providers who focuses on building:
- Grow financial literacy skills to better understand income and savings opportunities
- Build skills and education to obtain jobs that provide a livable wage
- Security through stable housing
