Education

Success in life begins with a quality education. And yet, millions of children and youth lack the support they need to strengthen their literacy, stay on track in school, graduate high school and find a career.

We’re working to shift the odds so tomorrow’s leaders can build a better foundation today. With an approach to education that spans from cradle to career, we’re ensuring every child gets a strong start in life, teenagers have the tools to learn and grow, and young adults thrive in the job market.

Education is the cornerstone for success in school, work and life that benefits our entire community. United Way looks at the big picture to identify what resources are lacking or need strengthening, and how we can address those gaps collaboratively.

  • Start school ready to succeed
  • Read at grade level by the 3rd grade
  • Succeed in the middle grades
  • Graduate High School with a purposeful plan for their future
  • Pursue college or trade

Healthy Growth & Development

From cradle to career, reading will help kids experience lifelong success. That means helping them get a strong start, continuing to spark their curiosity and making sure teachers, caregivers and parents can better support children’s healthy growth and development. When all kids have access to quality education they have brighter futures and help make our community stronger.

We all want our children to thrive and reach their greatest potential. Building the foundation for successful learning begins at a young age. The Dolly Parton Imagination Library is a free resource that puts books in the hands of children ages 0-5. The Beaufort-Hyde Partnership for Children leads this vital work for our Beaufort communities.
